My gorgeous handbag from Sew Christine

July 13, 2010

A while back, I entered a competition on SewChristine’s blog, and to my surprise, I won!! I’ve never really won a competition before so I was really chuffed. And even more so because the prize was this beautiful hand-made bag:

It’s funny, because if I had been shopping, I would never have picked it out for myself. But I just love it, and not just how it looks – it is practical, as it has good inner pockets, and it is also incredibly durable – bags suffer a lot of abuse at my hands and this one is still in tip top condition. It’s obvious how the construction was done with a lot of care, especially around the zipper, and to be honest it’s better quality than any handbag I’ve bought. Three cheers for the handmade revolution!

I’ve also had so many compliments on it, not least of all from my husband. After I dropped my bag, open, on the kitchen table (as I said, lots of abuse) he peered inside and commented “Oooh, I like the lining of your bag”. That’s a real result, as my hubby bless him would never normally notice such things.

Gorgeous enough for my husband to notice!

Christine has an online shop http://www.sewchristine.co.uk as well as her blog – as I write this post the website seems to be down, but hopefully it will re-appear later.

Thank you Christine for my lovely handbag!

**UPDATE: Christine’s website is gone, having been replaced by her Etsy and Folksy stores. Well worth a visit!**

Thank you sew much for the comments. **blushing** My web site isn’t down as much as gone. My blog is still going strong though. I find Folksy and Etsy easier than having my own site.
