Birthday Bunting

April 21, 2011

Before I went on holiday I managed to get out my sewing machine and wizz up some birthday bunting for my beautiful niece Rosie, who will be 1 today.

I’ve never made bunting before and made it up as I went along. I surprised myself how little time it took; I managed to complete it in just two evenings, so about 4 hours in total. The fabric is from an inspiration pack I bought ages ago from Patch Fabrics, containing a fat quarter of this heart fabric and an ice cream fabric both by Michael Miller- I used the ice cream fabric for the back of the bunting but forgot to take a photograph. Woops. Here’s an image of the fabric from the Patch website:

I made the letters out of felt scraps that Sew Justine Sew kindly sent me back in February.

I purposefully didn’t use anything too babyish as I thought this would make a really nice memento through the years for her to keep and treasure. For now, it can be tied to her cot, but in the future she could put it on her door as a room sign and, I’m embarrassed to say I even imagined her putting it on her wall when she goes off to uni. What – me, carried away?!

Happy birthday Rosie!
